1. Campo del Moro - Paseo Virgen del Puerto s/n, Madrid - website

2. Cárcel de la Inquisición - Southeast corner of C. Cabeza and C. Lavapies, Madrid - website

One of the most sacred, yet ignored landmarks in the city, this jail was used extensively during the famed Spanish Inquisition.

3. Casa de América - Paseo de Recoletos 2, Madrid - website

While some say this cultural center is haunted, it is still a popular spot with tourists who are looking for an interactive learning experience.

4. Casa de Cervantes - C. Cervantes and C. Leon, Madrid - website

Visit the private home of one of Spain’s most famous residents. He penned the famous work ‘Don Quixote’.

5. Casa de Lope de Vega - C. Cervantes 11, Madrid - website

This amazing museum is dedicated to one of Madrid’s best know writers, thought to be on par with the world’s greatest.

What was once a sprawling royal complex has been reduced to an annex and a garden, but the property is still a must visit spot in Madrid.

7. Centro de Arte Reina Sofía - Santa Isabel 52, Madrid - website

The Madrid Museum of Modern Art is a sight to behold and a must visit spot, even for those folks who may not be the artsy type.

One of the most popular tourist spots in the city, and for good reason. This sprawling property contains more than enough interesting tidbits to entertain for hours.

10. Museo Municipal - Fuencarral, Madrid - website

While knowledge of Spain helps here, this museum does a great job of hashing out the complex history of this beautiful city.
